Primary Teachers

Ms. LORI

I am Ms. Lori and I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. I moved to Italy in 2002 to begin my university studies in Languages and Literature. I am a qualified ESL teacher and Cambridge ESOL examiner and I have been teaching English as a second language since 2006. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking and outdoor activities.

Ms. ELISA

My name is Elisa and I was born in Italy. I studied and received my Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages with a thesis on the English playwright Caryl Churchill. I got my Master’s degree in Progettazione e Gestione di Sistemi Turistici and I recently received 24 CFU certification. I am currently studying for my second Master’s degree in English Literature. 

I have been working at Benedetto XV International School since 2020 teaching Italian to Year 5 and Geography in Year 5 and 6. 

Ms. ALESSANDRA

My name is Ms. Alessandra and I am the primary school Italian language teacher. I obtained my master’s degree in European and American foreign languages and literature with a thesis on the French poet Max Jacob. I studied and lived in France; first in Paris and then in Lille where I worked as an Italian language lecturer at the University of Lille III Charles de Gaulle. During my university studies, I took several exams in Italian linguistics and glottology aimed at teaching Italian in primary school. Among my greatest passions is travel and certainly the love of reading, especially children’s literature and picture books.

Ms. NOOSHIN

Hi! My name is Nooshin and I’m Persian. I’ve been a teacher here in Italy since 2013 and I absolutely love my job. I graduated in both English Literature and Interior Design and I have a Master’s degree in Journalism. I am Celta Certified as well. I love drawing, playing the piano and tennis is my favourite sport. I worked as an architect for a few years but I know for sure that teaching children is what satisfies me the most. I have worked with several schools in Rome both as an English and CLIL teacher. I have also worked with Language Institutes as an English teacher. I am currently teaching 3rd grade elementary and I teach Maths, Science and Art in 5th elementary.

Ms. RUTH

Hi, my name is Ruth and I’m from the tiny country of Northern Ireland in the U.K. I have an Honours degree in Primary Education and I am an experienced primary school teacher. I love seeing children make discoveries and connections when learning and I enjoy helping children progress in reading. I’m excited to join the team at Benedetto XV teaching in Year 3. I have three young kids and I enjoy reading and traveling and watching movies.

Ms. LIESBETH

Hi, my name is Ms. Liesbeth and I was born and raised in the Netherlands. I moved to Rome in 1986, got married and I am blessed with 3 daughters. I studied languages and art history, in 2011 I graduated with a masters degree in ‘ arte-terapia’. I have been conducting art workshops for the last 20 years in daycare centres for people with mental disabilities and psychiatric disorders, public elementary and middle schools, and group lessons for children, teenagers and adults. I love drawing, painting and creating. Teaching others and getting them involved in expressing themselves, discovering fantasy, creativity and inner power through art, is what gives me a lot of satisfaction.  It is an essential part in their live, because it allows my students to have a deeper understanding of their emotions, it increases self-awareness, which opens new ways of observing.

Ms. CAROLYN

Hi, my name is Carolyn and I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. I have a B.A. in Political Science, a B.S. with high honors in Global Environmental Sciences and a Master’s degree in Chemical Oceanography. I have experience teaching English, Science, Math, and also Oceanography, from preschool to university level. In addition, I have completed a special training course with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO on Ocean Literacy, and have a strong background in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (sdgs), in particular sdg14 regarding “Life Below Water”. Prior to Benedetto XV, I was the educational director of the MuMa Museum of the Sea in Milazzo, Sicily.  I currently teach Maths and Science in the primary school Year 5 and 6 and Science in Middle School. I have a daughter and in my free time I enjoy reading and exploring the many beautiful corners of Italy.

Ms. EMMA

I’m Ms. Emma and I am from North Carolina in the United States. I teach Year 4 here at Benedetto XV. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and French. After university, I taught for some time in the States before moving to Paris, where I spent several years teaching English as a second language. In 2019, I moved to Italy and began learning Italian while continuing to teach. My dream was to grow up and effect change in children’s lives, so I feel very fortunate to be doing just that. Some of my other interests include eating new foods, swimming and reading.
